Designed to be one of the largest ports in the Middle East and globally, it aims to enhance Iraq's trade capabilities by providing an alternative route to the Suez Canal.
The port will feature 99 berths with facilities for container shipping, dry bulk goods, oil, and general cargo, and is expected to handle up to 99 million tons of cargo annually upon completion.
